Keep Your Smile Where It Belongs
After your orthodontic treatment is done, your teeth need time to settle into their new positions. Without a retainer, they will shift. It is not a maybe — it happens to everyone. Wearing your retainer as directed is all it takes to protect everything you worked for.
How long do you need to wear it?
For the first few months, full-time wear is recommended. After that, nights only is typically enough to keep things stable. Most patients wear their retainer at night indefinitely — it takes two minutes before bed and keeps your smile exactly where it is.
Types of Retainers
We will recommend the best option for you based on your case. Some patients do best with a removable retainer they can take out for eating and cleaning. Others benefit from a fixed retainer that works around the clock without any effort on their part.
These fit closely over your teeth, similar to a clear aligner. They are discreet, comfortable, and easy to keep clean. You take them out for eating and brushing, then put them back in. Most patients prefer these for everyday use.
A traditional retainer made of acrylic and a wire that sits across the front teeth. Durable, adjustable, and built to last many years with proper care. A solid choice when you need a removable retainer with extra holding strength.
A thin wire bonded directly to the back of your front teeth. It is permanent, invisible from the outside, and always working — no effort required. Recommended for patients at higher risk of relapse. Good daily cleaning around the wire is important to keep it in good shape.
